'Hot Skull' a Plague Spread through Speech

'Hot Skull'  a Plague Spread through Speech

Are stories of devastating planetary diseases and dystopian civilizations your thing? Then you may start anticipating a new Netflix series. The streamer has unveiled a teaser for its science fiction drama Hot Skull, which is based on the same-named book by Afşin Kum. In the series, a new plague with a novel method of transmission is wreaking havoc on the earth.

The almost two-minute teaser starts off with the quiet former linguist Murat Siyavus (Osman Sonant) remembering his first encounter with a woman in a setting he hardly recognizes. Murat is one of the few people who has survived a plague of lunacy that has spread throughout the populace and is propagated only via verbal and linguistic exchanges. Murat has stayed with his mother to weather the storm, but he is the only one who is immune to the spreading illness. His mother begs him to "live a little," so his visit is not altogether trouble-free.

With the use of headphones that shield them from the "jabberers," or those infected by the sickness, Murat and those who have not yet been affected by the epidemic, navigate the world and the metropolis of Istanbul. Soon enough, he exposes himself to protect a young boy from one of these jabberers' attacks due to his apparent goodness. Murat, encouraged by his mother, is sucked into a brand-new high-stakes game that pits the linguist against the brutal Anti-Epidemic Institution, the organization in charge of this dystopian society.

Nothing is the same now, even if the seas are still salty and birds are still able to soar through the air. For this reason, Murat must leave the safe haven. Murat sets out on a trek in the outdoors with Sule (Hazal Subas) and others who share his beliefs in an effort to learn the mysteries of his immunity, his "hot skull."

The series "Hot Skull" was produced by Mert Baykal and is based on Kum's 2016 novel. Sonant and Subaş are joined in the eight-part series' cast by Şevket Çoruh, Tilbe Saran, Kubilay Tunçer, zgür Emre Yldrm, Gonca Vuslateri, Zerrin Sümer, Yetkin Dikinciler, and Hakan Gerçek. More include Furkan Kalabalk, Erdem Akakçe, Barş Yldz, Arda Anarat, and others.

Hot Skull premieres on Netflix on December 2.
